數學一直都是某些童鞋胸口永遠的痛，沒想到學英文還是要面對數學的問題(淚奔)。今天讓我們來檢視一下單複數和集合體名詞。
基本上單數和複數就是在單數後面加個s這麼簡單…..嗎? 其實有些名詞有些與眾不同，比如說：
1. 某些結尾是字母O或X的字要加es：
echo(es), embargo(es), veto(es), pillbox(es), index(es)
2. 某些源自拉丁文或古英文的字：
medium→media; child→children; datum→data; formula→formulae; stimulus→stimuli
3. 某些單複數同形的字：
offspring, barracks, headquarters, means, series
4. 本身就是看起來是單數集合體名詞：
crew, staff, fruit, furniture, baggage/luggage, jewelry, produce, scenery
使用時配合第三人稱單數型態動詞
The crew is relieved after the captain said it was a false alert.
Our baggage has exceeded the weight limit.
The fresh produce in the local market attracts buyers from nearby towns.
