學習英語的過程中，大家應該常常遇到「似曾相識」的狀況：看起來好像有點熟，但再仔細看好像又不太一樣的感覺。
英語的世界像萬花筒般精彩，從不同的角度看總是會發現新的事物值得我們好好學習。
例如很多單字都看起來很像，但其實差一個字的意思就有可能差了十萬八千里，現在就一起來看看有哪些字最容易造成大家使用上的混淆吧。
Access是一個常用到的單字，當名詞使用時意思是“通道、進入”，例如access to the building（進入建築物）。用作動詞的意思除了進入之外，還有retrieve（重新得到）、obtain（獲得），如”information can be accessed from several files.”（資料可以從好幾個檔案中取得）。
Excess是很容易與access混淆的單字，它可當作名詞或形容詞使用，用來描述超出的數量，如excess baggage（超重的行李）。
特別注意的是另一個單字“entrance” 與 “access”一樣都是進入的意思，兩者的區別在於“access”的使用範圍不只是“進入某處“而已，它還包括 “使用、獲得某些事或物的機會與權限”，兩者在使用上是有所不同的。
例如：
The entrance to the building is on the other side of the road.
大樓的入口在馬路的另一邊。
Access to the building is on the other side of the road.
通往大樓的入口在馬路的另一邊。

Currant/Current的pronunciation（發音上）很像，currant是名詞，是用於pastries（糕點）和jams（果醬）的小葡萄乾或果乾。
current可當名詞也可當形容詞，名詞的意思是流動的水、氣流或是electricity in a particular direction（電流）。 當Current用作形容詞時，意思則是當前發生或現在的，例如current issue（當月/最新一期的雜誌）。

Addition 和 edition也是我們日常中常會用到的字，
Addition是指增加、加法，以及添加的過程，如addition of salt to the soup（在湯中加鹽）。
而in addition/in addition to也是常用的片語，in addition意思是指”此外、除了”的意思，用於在提及跟討論中主題相關的另一個項目時，可以用in addition。
例如：
I can’t come with you, I have to go to work. In addition, there is an appointment I need to go at 2 p.m..
我得去上班不能跟你一起去。另外，下午2點我還有一個預約。
in addition to的意思”除了…，還有…”的意思之外，in addition to則很常放在句首，跟as well as的意思很像。
In addition to English, she is also learning Spanish.
除了英文，她也在學西班牙文。

跟Addition容易搞混的Edition則是指書籍、產品、報紙等特定形式，例如the paperback/hardback edition of the dictionary（平裝／精裝本字典）。
